At Local Color Austin, we see art as both a powerful means of expression as well as proponent and motivator of change. Because of this, our philosophy as a non-profit arts center is to use art in ways that work towards raising awareness about social injustice in the world around us (both local and far). This theme often is represented tangibly by the artists and musicians that are part of Local Color’s programs, concerts and gallery shows. This representation comes in several forms, either by art focusing on social injustice and/or by our policy to always give our earnings to continuing efforts near and abroad.
